Coordinator Profile

Lori Trahan

  • Location: Georgia
  • Disaster Experience: (1) Tornado

Lori has been involved with Noah’s Wish since 2006, actively attending trainings each year.  In 2011, she was one of the training site liaisons for the Dallas, GA training, including securing the location and sponsorship dollars to cover the training. She has been working with Good Mews Animal Foundation, a no-kill, cage-free cat shelter in Marietta, GA, since 2000, where she has served as a board member, adoption counselor, fundraising event coordinator, and foster home.  She is currently the Assistant Director of Career Services at Kennesaw State University, as well as working on her Ph.D. in Counselor Education at the University of Georgia, where her dissertation topic involves working with disasters on college campuses.  Lori resides with her “zoo” of kitties in Dallas, GA.  One of her cats, Zach, loves to help with disaster preparedness presentations by demonstrating how to properly use the Evac-Sak.

Coordinator Profile

Betty Grant - Senior Volunteer

  • Location: Georgia
  • Disaster Experience: (4) Hurricanes (1) Tornado

Betty has been involved with animal rescue since 2005.  Initially trained for disaster response by a different organization, Betty responded to Hurricane Katrina by driving to Slidell, LA as a Noah’s Wish convergent volunteer to see what she could do to help.  It was life changing for her and she was “hooked”.  She has attended Noah’s Wish trainings every year since then.  She lives in Atlanta with her own small “colony” of rescued cats. Two are Katrina Cajuns. Betty is a former teacher and retired public relations consultant.  She volunteers at local shelters and was once operations manager for a cage-free cat shelter.  Communication, sharing information, and preparedness are in her blood.

Coordinator Profile

Kathy Cooper - Senior Volunteer

  • Location: Region 8
  • Disaster Experience:

Kathy has been with Noah’s Wish since 2006 when she attended her first training after seeing how the animals needed help following Katrina.  She has attended four more trainings since.  She was a site liaison in 2010, securing the shelter that she was with at the time as the training location.  With 15 years shelter work experience, she has held positions as volunteer, board member and co-chair, done foster and adoptions work and headed fundraising, promotional and educational initiatives.   For the last year, she has worked with a small group helping to care for a colony of feral cats.  Kathy is a yoga instructor by trade and is studying to be an Occupational Therapy Assistant.  She also holds BAs in Spanish and International Studies which she finds helps her work with and relate to people from a wide variety of backgrounds.  She shares her home with her very supportive and tolerant husband, Paul, and seven (at last count) cats.
