Lots and lots going on in the Southland...

 

 

Thea Martin, Region 5 Coordinator, will be giving a Pet Preparedness “talk” to the public at "SOS Survival Products" this Saturday from 11 am – 12:30 pm and would love a “helper” at this event if anyone is interested?

We will be going over our Pet Owner’s Guide to Disaster Planning brochure – in full detail and  come up with solutions for unusual pets that may need to be evacuated.  If you are interested in helping – contact  Thea Martin – ASAP! Location:                               SOS Survival Products          15705 Strathern St #11 Van Nuys, CA

Event: Assistant Coordinator John Lewis  will be addressing the public on 09/15/2011 at the Rosemead Rabies Clinic from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Speaking at 6:45 and 7:15 about Pet Preparedness and adding information on co-existing with Coyotes – a Special Request from this Community.  Address is 8301 Garvey Ave, Rosemead CA  91770.  If you would like to help John by handing out preparedness flyers,  please let Thea know.
           
Booth: Saturday 09/17/2011 Community Preparedness Fair at Faith Lutheran Church at 7500 De Soto Ave Canoga Park Ca 91303 9 am – noon. Two people are still needed for this event!
 
Booth: Friday 09/30/2011 Providence St, Joseph Hospital Preparedness Fair 501 So. Buena Vista St Burbank, CA 10 am - 2 pm. Two people are still needed for this event!
 
Event: October 1st. We will be giving a Specialized CART training for area CERT level 1.  This is an accelerated 1 day “Meat and Potatoes” training for area CERT level 1 people.  Noah’s Wish trained volunteers need NOT ATTEND – We need to keep space open for “newbies” please.  WE will be addressing the CERT Animal Modules I and II, while adding the Noah’s Wish protocals to give these folks a comprehensive “plan” when addressing animal issues as first responders.  A few extra volunteers are needed to help us out at this training.  Contact Thea Martin if you are interested in helping out. This will be a long day  7am – 5:30 pm 
 
Event: Senor Volunteer, Kris Smelser, will be attending and speaking at the CESA Conference on October 4th in San Diego. This speaking engagement will be covering the services that Noah's Wish offers the public and includes a brief synopsis of how we do what we do – SO WELL!
 
Booth and speaking event: Saturday 10/15/2011     4-H Symposium UC Cooperative Extension at 4800 E. Cesar E. Chavez Avenue Los Angeles, CA 10 am - 3 pm.  Still need 2 people to “staff” the booth for this event!
 
Booth: Saturday 10/15/2011 Fundraiser for Glendale K9s in the Park at 1621 Canada Blvd Glendale, Ca 11 am - 4 pm. Still need 2 people for this event!
 
Event: Noah’s Wish Regional Drill with Arroyo Secco Neighborhood Council at “Shake Out – the Play”.  This will be a full out multi-agency drill. We  will practice Search and Rescue, Intake, Shelter, and Triage as we assist the newly trained CART groups from the October 1st training.  All Noah’s Wish volunteers are encourage to attend this drill – need to hone those skills people!  Time to be determined - Sign up with Cindy or Thea.
